Orono Solar Boats
The Orono Solor Boat Teams are gearing up for another terrific year of competition! Brad Jans, Orono Middle School Technology and Engineering Education teacher, began experimenting with solar powered boats in 2007 with an excited team of eighth grade boys. That vision and experience has blossomed through the years to now include four teams of 22 students in grades 7-11, joined by high school teacher Mark VonderHaar. There has also been community involvement in an adult team.
